Before class on Feb. 9

Sorry I did not post these videos earlier.  Our learning objectives for Feb. 9 are:

–Define and use the Bronsted concept of acids and bases.

–Recognize common acids and bases and write balanced equations for their ionization in water.

–Explain what it means to be amphiprotic

–Recognize a Bronsted acid or base in a reaction, and identify the conjugate partner of each.

–Use the water ionization constant, Kw.

–Use the pH concept.

Before class on Feb. 9

Before Class on Feb. 3

Our learning objectives for our next class are to:

  • be able to predict how a change in a system will affect the equilibrium concentrations, based on K;
  • Use K to predict equilibrium concentrations when only given initial concentrations.

Before class on Feb. 3:

  • Please watch the 2 videos below (7 min, 25 min)
  • Complete the notes
  • Make a comment.

Before Class on Tues., Jan. 24

Before class on Tuesday, Jan. 24, please finish the HW worksheets I handed out on Friday.  We will finish discussing Kinetics on Tuesday, and work on the HW problems associated with the last learning objectives. We will also work on a problem that integrates Kinetics with some other things we learned.  I believe the units that are displayed in the tables may be confusing to you.  I am attaching a sheet with some notes to make them more clear.Kinetics Worksheet with unit explanations

I am postponing starting Equilibrium until after the Kinetics Quiz, so there are no videos to watch.

I have graded the Test on Gases and Properties of Solids, Solutions, and Liquids.  There is no retest for this Test.  If you want to improve your grade, you may do test corrections during your Pride or after school this week.  If you complete test corrections for all incorrect answers, you can earn back half the points lost.
